How to catch a spinning ball
There are several ways to catch a spinning ball:
Topspin: Topspin is characterized by the racket being tilted forward, touching the upper middle of the ball, and grinding forward and upward at the same time. When catching a topspin ball, the racket face is slightly tilted forward, and the force is sent forward, which can be returned by covering the top of the ball and suppressing the topspin.
Downspin: Downspin is the rubbing of the bottom of the ball, creating a "spinning backwards" effect. To receive a spin shot, the racket surface is flattened and the ball is rubbed against the bottom of the racket, then rubbed forward and downward and sent out.It can be hit by rolling or pulling the ball.
Side Spin: Side spin bends the arc of the ball. When receiving left side spin, the racket shape is biased towards the opponent's right corner; when receiving right side spin, the racket shape is biased towards the opponent's left corner.Side-spin can be counteracted by adjusting the shape of the racket and the direction of force.
Tips for catching different spinning balls:
Downward spin: Judge whether your opponent is rubbing the bottom of the table tennis ball. If you are sure it is a downward spin ball, flatten the racket a bit, rub the bottom of the ball, rub it forward and downward and send it out. Topspin: If you are sure the ball is topspin, cover the top of the ball, press the topspin and send it forward. This can be countered with an in-table flick or a reverse rip. Side Spin: If the opponent shakes his wrist and sends power to the side of the ball, the board shape will be sent to the side of the ball, so as to avoid eating the side spin of the incoming ball. Suggestions for improving your ability to receive spin:
Judge the strength of the spin: Improve your judgment of the strength and direction of the spin of the incoming ball.
Adjust the racket shape and power: Adjust the racket shape and power direction according to different types of spins, e.g., downward power in the case of spin and upward power in the case of downward spin. Practice: Practice more to familiarize yourself with different ways of catching the spinning ball and to improve the accuracy and stability of catching the ball.
