How to pump the ball in table tennis
The table tennis draw is a fast-attacking technique with a large, powerful and aggressive movement, which makes it an effective technique for scoring points on the court. It is mainly categorized into straight forehand and crosscourt forehand.
Straight Forehand Draw Technique
Standing position and preparation: Stand in a suitable position, keep standing diagonally, keep the center of gravity low, bend the back and legs appropriately, in order to facilitate the movement and catch the ball. Keep your feet shoulder-width apart and knees slightly bent to maintain balance.
Lead: Judge the position of the incoming ball, lead the racket backward and downward, turn the waist and sink the shoulders, the center of gravity is on the right foot, and the racket is tilted forward. The forearm is naturally stretched out behind the body when leading the racket. The forearm is naturally extended behind the body when leading the racket,
Swinging the racket: Swing the racket to the upper left, step forward with the left foot, shift the center of gravity from the right foot to the left foot, and use the waist to drive the arm to generate power. At the moment of hitting the ball, the wrist can be slightly harder to increase the rotation and speed of the ball.
Follow-through and return: After hitting the ball, follow-through with a slightly larger movement, then quickly return to the ready position for the next shot.
Cross-court forehand stroke
Stance and Preparation: The same stance and preparation as the straight forehand stroke.
Lead: Lead the racket backward and downward, turn the waist and sink the shoulders, the center of gravity is on the right foot, and the racket is tilted forward.
Swinging the racket: swing the racket forward and upward, shift the center of gravity to the left foot, and use the waist to drive the arm to generate power. At the moment of hitting the ball, the wrist can be slightly harder to increase the rotation and speed of the ball.
Follow-through and return: After hitting the ball, follow-through is slightly greater, then quickly return to the ready position for the next shot.
Precautions for Drawing the Ball
Waist Strength: Waist strength is critical when pumping the ball. Learn to use the rotation of the waist to drive the arm force, which can increase the power and stability of the ball.
Shape and Angle: When hitting the ball, the shape of the racket should be kept at a proper slope in order to hit a forward spinning attack ball. Adjust the angle of the racket face and the point of impact according to the different conditions of the incoming ball in order to achieve the best hitting effect.
Wrist Use: The wrist plays an important role in regulating the stroke. At the moment of striking the ball, the wrist can be used slightly harder to increase the spin and speed of the ball. However, be careful not to overuse the wrist as you may lose control of the ball.
Center of Gravity Shift: During the stroke, pay attention to the shift of the center of gravity. Shift from the right foot to the left foot (with the right hand holding the racket as an example), so that you can better utilize the power of your body to hit the ball.
